PMC HyperBoard is a PCI Mezzanine Card, PMC-compatible, multi-standard board that contains up to eight channels of Mil-Std-1553. It is compatible with Mil-Std-1553B and Mil-Std-1760 and its channels can be configured independently to work with H009 and WB-194 in conjunction with 1553. Other protocols, like French DigiBus, are also available upon request.

The PMC HyperBoard is based on Sital's proven 1553, H009 and WB-194 (WMUX) IP cores, loaded into an FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) component and discrete components transceivers. The board can be programmed by Sital, allowing the flexibility to support various configurations and protocols using the exact same hardware. It includes eight Generic I/O pins, that can be used as RS-485/RS-422, ARINC-429 (2 transmit and 2 receive channels) or eight avionics I/O ports. The board also includes eight digital I/Os and IRIG-B time-tag input and output channels.

PMC HyperBoard can be used for on-board avionics systems and for lab testing equipment. The standard interface board is software-compatible with DDC® Enhanced MiniACE® components and architecture, enabling fast and easy integration with existing or new systems. The tester version is provided with capabilities like RT Simulation, Multi-RT, Error Injection and more. This version is also available in Compact PCI (cPCI) form-factor.

The board is provided with software drivers for Windows and Linux along with high-level API and a comprehensive GUI (Graphical User Interface) to ease application development for controlling the board, generating bus traffic and monitoring and emulating a real bus environment.

Feature Summary:

  • Card can be ordered in various configurations and bus interfaces

PMC HyperBoard™ Tester Functionality

The BRD1553PMC Tester board includes 4 dual-channel testers. Each tester supports two dual-redundant channels of Mil-Std-1553, which also support WB194.

Each channel can operate as concurrent Bus Controller (BC) with up to 31 Remote Terminals (RT), Monitor Terminal (MT), Multi-RT or as a full Mil-Std-1553 Tester. Full error injection capability is available in BC and RT modes, with full error detection in all modes.

Four channels of ARINC 429 are supported - two for transmit and two for receive.

In addition, four channels of RS 485 are available for serial communication and testing.

When operating in tester mode, this unit supports the MuxSim™ and MuxMonitor™ software programs for operating the tests.

Provided Software

PMC HyperBoard tester software consists of several components:

  • MuxSim™ - a program that manages the simulation of a 1553 bus by creating messages and frames, controlling timing and rates of messages, selecting active busses and active Remote Terminals and re-transmitting pre-recorded bus data.
  • MuxMonitor™ - a program that monitors the 1553 bus, records bus data into files, re-plays the recorded data in simulation or onto the real bus, enables filters and triggers for recording and re-playing. This program allows the user to track and follow bus messages, errors and any behavior that needs to be evaluated.
  • mcxSIM™ - a program that manages a batch based simulation of the 1553 and RS-485 buses by reading a command files which contains information of the required 1553 and RS-485 communication (messages, frames, timing, rates, active busses, active Remote Terminals, etc…) and operate accordingly.
  • TesterDLL - a Dynamic Link Library module that serves software functions which operate the MultiComBox™. Software programmers should use this DLL file if they want to create their own application or GUI. More information on TesterDLL can be found on TesterDLL User's Manual.
